Brand Knowledge: give every AI-written claim about you a source
Three ways to add material (write or paste, from URL, upload a file), Test retrieval, editing / re-indexing / removing sources, and how the knowledge base works with Content Rules.
What this page is for
Feed in pricing, product specs, real data and pages from your site. When the multi-agent pipeline (strategy articles, AI-agent generation, Autopilot) writes an article, it first retrieves relevant excerpts from here and writes from them, so it doesn’t invent facts. You can add competitor material too; it is used for positioning only, never as facts about you.
When to use it
- Before generating your first article with AI.
- When an article gets a price or spec wrong.
- When your site adds a pricing, comparison or FAQ page.
The page
- Note at the top (Keep core facts in Content Rules): core, frequently changing facts such as pricing belong in Business info under Content Rules; the knowledge base holds supporting pages and excerpts. Open Content Rules takes you there.
- Add material: three methods — ✍ Write or paste (Content required, at least ~50 characters; Title optional), 🔗 From URL (Page URL required; the system fetches and indexes the text) and ⬆ Upload file (PDF / Word .docx / .md / .txt / .html / .csv, up to 8 MB). Each has the checkbox "This is competitor content (positioning reference only — never used as your brand’s facts)". Click Add to knowledge base.
- Test retrieval: type a topic and click Test to see exactly which excerpts the generator would pull — the same retrieval the pipeline uses.
- Sources: each source shows its type (Text, Upload, Site page, Published article), the number of excerpts and when it was added. Rows have Edit (title, and the text for written or uploaded sources) and Remove; site pages also have Re-index.
Common tasks
What to add first
- Fill in Business info under Content Rules.
- Use 🔗 From URL to add your pricing, product and About pages.
- Use ✍ Write or paste for the 3 to 5 facts customers ask about most (with sources).
- In Test retrieval, type a topic a customer would ask about and check that these excerpts come back.
Update an outdated fact
Find it under Sources, click Edit, change the text and Save. For a site page, click Re-index to fetch it again.
Add competitor material
Tick the competitor checkbox when adding it. These excerpts go only to the content strategist for positioning; the writer never cites them.
Common questions
I added it, but the article is still wrong. First check with Test retrieval whether that fact is retrieved. Retrieval matches by topic, so put the product name and key terms in the title and text. Also note that quick generation doesn’t read the knowledge base; only strategy articles, AI-agent generation and Autopilot use it.
Knowledge base or Content Rules? Business info in Content Rules is read for every article: positioning, target customers, key strengths, pricing. The knowledge base is retrieved by topic: pages, specs, FAQs and other supporting material.
It says "Similar entry exists". The URL or title is close to an existing entry. Choose Replace (recommended) or Keep both.
If something goes wrong
- File too large (max 8 MB).: split the file or export it as plain text.
- A URL import finds no text: the page needs a login or blocks bots; paste the text instead.
- "The brand knowledge base is in beta and isn't enabled for your workspace yet.": it has to be switched on for your workspace; contact support.
